Using silhouettes is a cost-effective way to create a larger gathering of “birds” on rocks and skerries. By combining three-dimensional figures with silhouettes, costs are kept down while also making it easier to fit everything into the boat. We have developed four different silhouette variants, and this one with spread wings appears to be standing and drying them in the wind. For the most realistic effect, this silhouette should always be positioned facing into the wind. By mixing silhouettes with different body postures, a convincing image of a gathering of cormorants is created — irresistible to many cormorants searching for food or companionship.
The silhouette is supplied with a removable metal leg featuring four metal pins that are inserted into the silhouette from underneath at designated markings in both the body and wings. This prevents the wings from twisting against the silhouette. Beneath the foot is a sleeve of the same dimension as those used on the three-dimensional decoys for mounting in aluminum metal supports. (See separate product description.) The silhouette is made from 8 mm corrugated plastic and has a very rigid construction. The wings are additionally reinforced with an attached 1 mm black steel plate.
